How to Construct a Notebook Page

Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.

Benjamin Franklin

A big part of learning is doing.  I would argue that to learn science means you have to do science.  My unit studies involve the student.  The student performs, creates, analyzes and presents.  At the conclusion of each activity, the student must record.

Recording your work is a crucial step for learning science.  Scientists keep lab notebooks and so students of science should also keep a notebook.notebookpg2

Although each notebook page will be tailored to the activity performed, generally, a notebook page for the elementary student consists of the following:  title, date, picture or graph and summary statement.  As the student gets older, more information will be recorded so that each notebook page exemplifies the scientific method.

Each unit study packet comes with directions for constructing notebook pages tailored to each activity.  The prebuilt notebook components will help your student construct beautiful and meaningful notebook pages.
